It's almost spring in the Pacific Northwest, and we are enjoying some typical big storms right now that are dumping a lot of rain and snow in the whole northwest region. This will continue for quite a number of months, and it's something we are all grateful for so that the mountains accumulate a lot of snow for the summer runoff as well as fill up the reservoirs to provide water later in the year. When the summer months do not get any rain, the reservoirs are a blessing for everyone and eliminate the need for water rationing.
For average homeowners who have accumulated a lot of items that are either too many or too big to fit in the home or the garage, it is such an advantage to have wooden outdoor buildings erected on the property for additional storage and to get your excess items inside a storage building instead of being outside in the elements. Rain and snow and damaging excess heat can simply ruin things left outside in no time.
Whether you buy a kit for the shed plans or design the building yourself, it can be any size or shape you need and one that you can afford. The architecture can be an exact match to your home with style and exterior color and texture, or it can be something that compliments the home beautifully, too, by having a similar design. I'm sure you've seen both extremes of sheds. Some are really nice and add a lot of value and eye-appeal to the property. On the other hand, some sheds look really trashy and would add value to the property if they were totally removed.
Working with wood is particularly nice because it is easy to work with and easy to add on to if you are accomplished with a hammer and nails and a good structural eye for design and efficiency. Some wooden buildings are designed so that part of it is for storage or workshop, and another part of the building is for a family playroom or entertaining area. Perhaps a pool table could go in the play area to enjoy with family and friends. This area could also be utilized as a hobby room. If planned properly and cleverly, it can even be designed where the hobby workshop can be folded up like a Murphy bed against the wall and provide full floor space for other fun activities.
There are so many options to choose from that would add beauty, utility and efficiency to the space being occupied by your new storage building.
